Linux our everloved OS of choice here at linuxjunkies has been for the most part been seen as a server Operating System. While this might be true to an extent, some of the largest companies out there use it, ie. Amazon and Google use it.

But it does have other uses, which I will discuss in this article to show it full potential and flexability.

Desktop OS, of course this is going to be in here. With the introduction of Fedora and Ubuntu there are some really great Linux distro's out there. And in the recent past there has been a lot of work to make the user interface more exciting, compwiz and xGL have added some great affects. Also driver support has improved dramatically. Also alot of the apps you are familiar with now work well with wine, ie most of googles "killer app" work.

Cellular Phones, this is an arena where Linux is coming to its own. Motorola has several Linux phones. Such as the Ming (a1200) (I have a ming and love it to death) and the E680. The have also this year announced MOTOMAGX which is their latest Linux Cell Phone OS, it will be available on the MOTOROKR Z6, MOTORAZR2 V* and THE MOTO U9. Then there is rumored Google Phone which is supposed to be based on Linux, but we will have to wait and see for this one.

There also also several Set Top Boxes that use Linux, like the TiVo that everyone loves.

With that said, get out there and spread the word about linux, convince anyone you can to make the switch and spread our Server OS to anything possible.
